Mad For Mauves

The hype all started when a photo of Kylie Jenner wearing a mauve-toned lip liner circulated on social media. From then on, people from all over the world (beauty enthusiasts and professional make-artist) are loving the coveted shade. Companies are coming out with more neutral shades-- truly there are a myriad of brands to choose from whether you are on a budget or you have some extra bucks to spend. Also, mauve toned lipsticks (if not all, most of them) suits every skin tone out there. These are my mauve lipsticks from my collection:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick in Dusty Rose
It is a true cool toned dusty rose that is best paired with a wash of champagne eye shadow on the lids.I'd like to think of this particular lipstick as the queen among the six-- mainly because of the fact that it does not cling onto the wrinkles on your lips. And believe me, that is a strong statement because my lips get dry so easily. Furthermore, the opacity of this specific lipstick is stunning; one swipe for each lip and you are good to go. As for the application, I experienced no patchiness and tugging with this lipstick. The quality is sublime; thus giving you the quality that you paid for.

Mac satin lipstick in Twig
Ah, my first of many. This is the first ever mac lipstick that I have ever purchased as recommended by the mac make up artist at the mac counter (that is a mouthful). She said that according to Kylie's make up artist, this is what she uses. However what really sold me is the fact that it is so comfortable to wear. It is in a satin finish which means it has shine to it - not the obnoxious kind but the 'enough' kind that it really moisturizes the lips. This is leaves a subtle stain on your lips at the end of the day; a perfect combination for lazy effortless looks.
Maybelline Creamy Mattes in Lively Violet
As per beauty vloggers recommendation, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and tried this lipstick. The first impression that I got of off it was how fragrant it is. So if you are the type of person who is very sensitive to obnoxious smelling products, I would not suggest this. However, the formula is amazing. It glides on like a dream and the opacity is perfect.Just like the Anastasia Beverly Hills, it has a cool and prominent violet undertone just as the shade name suggests. For someone who is on a budget, this might just be your soul mate.
Nature Essentials Velvet Lip Creme in Passion
Two things: organic and locally made. These are what triggered the inner impulsive buyer in me. Who does not want to support locally made products? much more a mauve-toned liquid lipstick? The thing/s that I dislike about it is its coconut smell and the fact that the formula is a bit dry- thus tugging is inevitable; perhaps it has something to do with the organic ingredients. Also, let us not forget about the price. Six hundred bucks is a lot for a local product. But if these are something that you have no problems with and you want to give organic make up a try, you should give this product a go.
Nyx Butter Gloss in Pops
First of all, sorry for the messy looking lipstick. If you have Nyx lipsticks, you will understand that this specific packaging is so hard to maintain. But judging the product itself, this.is.the.bomb. It is affordable, comfortable, and moisturizing: qualities that you look for in an every day lipstick. Actually, it is so comfortable that even feels like a lip balm. The color is very neutral which can be paired with almost everything. Another great thing about this product is that it is widely available here in the Philippines. I strongly suggest that you try this if you still haven't.
Shiseido Perfect Rouge in RD732
Upon swatching this product, the first that you will notice is how glossy it is. If werent for the tube packaging, this could pass off as lip gloss. This shade has a gorgeous rosy hue that compliments a majority of skin tone. Moreover, This would look amazing on flash photography but will tend to slip and slide off of your lips in real life. However, it leaves a flushed stain on your lips. For the average consumer, this is product is not a practical buy but like I said, if you can shed a bit more money, this is worth the try.
